Aniline Leather Cleaning

Aniline Leather Cleaning is an important part of prolonging the life of your leather

Before cleaning your leather it is essential to determine the type of leather you have so that the correct cleaners and method can be used.  This will ensure that no damage is done to your leather during the cleaning process

For the purpose of cleaning, we have included in this section all leather that absorbs moisture within a minute or so of application.
Because these type of leathers only have light surface protection (if any) they will also absorb dirt and spillages more readily.
You can easily test whether your leather absorbs moisture by putting a drop of water on the surface of the leather – if it soaks in and leaves a darker patch then you have aniline style leather
Once you have determined that you have an Aniline Style Leather the process for cleaning is very straightforward.

Aniline Leather Cleaner is specifically formulated to clean the surface of absorbent leathers – unlike other leather cleaning products which would simply be absorbed by the leather and have no cleaning effect
Foam cleaners (deep cleaners) do not work on Aniline style leathers so should be avoided as they will simply take the dirt further into the leather and can leave watermarks
Absorbent leathers that have not been protected will usually go dark as they absorb product but will dry back to normal quite quickly
Always clean a panel at a time

Due to the absorbent nature of Aniline Leather, it should always be protected with Aniline LeatherGuard Protector which prevents staining from spillages and body oils

Aniline Leather Cleaning – The Process:

All our products are supplied with a trigger spray for easy use. Simply spray the product onto the leather and wipe with a white lint-free cloth

After cleaning all Aniline style leathers should be treated with Aniline LeatherGuard Protector which will inhibit grease and dirt from being absorbed into the leather and make subsequent cleaning easier
Spray a thin mist over the surface and even out with a white cloth
On the first application of Aniline LeatherGuard Protector it is recommended that a second coat is applied to boost the protective coating

Because Aniline style leather has a greater tendency to absorb stains than Protected/Pigmented leather, do not expect to remove all the marks
If regular maintenance cleaning and protection is carried out any stains will blend into the overall look of the furniture over time

CAUTION:
Excessive body oils (from hair, skin, etc.) will show as dark areas on the head and arm areas that will appear pale when scratched
These will not ‘clean’ off and will require special degreasing treatment
